Tim Reid

MAM Flight Attendant - MEL Base

Tim Reid has been flying for MAM Aviation on Qantas Aircraft for 4 and half years in the short haul division. We asked him to be our websites “spotlight on a MAM Casual’ and tell us what he thinks of his job.

Tim, why did you decide to be a MAM Flight Attendant?
I decided to become a MAM Flight attendant as I had been a casual Flight Attendant with Ansett Australia and wished to continue my flying career.  Immediately prior to that I had spent around 10 years with the Hyatt Hotel Group finishing up as Assistant Manager of Melbourne's Park Hyatt Hotel.

What’s your favourite destination and why?
My favourite destination is Singapore.  It has great shopping, wonderful food and allows me the chance to catch up with family and friends there.  I am an avid reader of military history and I also enjoy visiting the historical war sites such as Changi whilst in Singapore.
My other favourite destination is home to be with my wife and children Sarah and Thomas.

What do you think are the most important qualities you need to be a great Flight Attendant?
Important Qualities for a flight attendant!  Where do you start?  I think that having good customer service skills and a pleasant demeanour are only the beginning.  You also need to be proficent in lots of different areas but I think one of the most important traits of being a good flight attendant is to treat your passengers how you would like to be treated.

What’s it like working for one of MAM’s biggest clients – Qantas Airways?
Working for MAM and its client airline Qantas provides an exciting work environment second to none.  No two days are the same-every day is different and you can never second guess what destination you will visit next.
